Has God’s Judgment of America already begun?

On Wednesday Night, July 27th, at 6:30pm, we will study the Judgment of God. I was recently asked if God is going to judge America for her sins or has God’s Judgment already begun? 40 years ago, the great evangelist Billy Graham looked at the moral decline of the USA and said, "God will either judge America or apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."

The Bible teaches that God is holy and just; therefore, He will not be apologizing to anyone. Rom 14:12 says “each of us shall give account of himself to God.” And God’s Judgment not only applies to individuals, it also applies to nations.

God’s judgment of nations is summarized in Psalm 9:4 “You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. 5 You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever….7 the LORD shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.8 He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. 9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You… The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. 16 The LORD is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God.”

The Word of God is clear and sure. God in His holiness & righteousness will punish sin and at the same time will save those who put their faith and trust in Him. But what about the United States of America whose motto is “In God We Trust”, but in recent years, we have put our trust in the American Dream of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”? Is God’s judgment still in the future or has our judgment already begun?

That is our Wednesday Night Question of the Week.
